This summer’s Boot Camp attracted a record 24 campers ages 14 and under for four days of golf instruction and other recreational activities. Members’ children, grandchildren, and their friends enjoyed expert instruction on the full swing, pitching, chipping, putting and golf course etiquette from the Boot Ranch golf professionals. The kids dramatically increased their skills while cultivating self-confidence, new friendships and a love of the game.
At Boot Ranch, however, the commitment to junior golf goes way beyond summer camp.
The Boot Ranch Scholarship Fund each year supports the educational ambitions of young golfers in the area with Tommy Hale Memorial Scholarships. For the past several years, Boot Ranch has donated new golf bags to each player on the high school team and hosted clinics at our 34-acre golf Practice Park.
A group of Boot Ranch members recently led the charge to restart the Junior Golf Program in Fredericksburg by teaming with the Friends of Lady Bird (Golf Course) Foundation. This three-year, $250,000 initiative will introduce and teach the game of golf to all interested juniors in the area. This summer, more than 50 juniors are signed up for the free bi-weekly clinics led by Boot Ranch and Lady Bird PGA professionals. A Fredericksburg Juniors team of 7 to 13 year-olds, including eight Boot Ranch kids, is competing in 6-hole Saturday afternoon traveling competitions. The Junior Golf program also supports the 25 girls and boys in the Fredericksburg High School golf program.
