The AfterGlow always takes place at Marktplatz, the town square, following the Christmas Parade. The whole family will surely love the diverse food, local wines, and local vendors at this event. Kids can even meet Santa and Mrs. Claus!

Fredericksburg German Christmas Pyramid

No Hill Country Christmas celebration would be complete without our Christmas Pyramid. Yes, you read that right, Christmas Pyramid. The tradition dates back to 16th century Germany when miners began to craft wooden toys as a new form of income.

Today, Fredericksburg honors this old-world tradition with an enormous, 26-foot Christmas Pyramid located at Marktplatz. Mirroring our Christmas Pyramid is a 30-foot Christmas tree located at the opposite end of the square, merging old world traditions with a contemporary flair that can only be found in Fredericksburg.

The Eisbahn

The Eisbahn, which is German for “ice rink” has become a holiday tradition for many in Fredericksburg. The Eisbahn is set up at Marketplatz from November 24th through January 7th offering families a chance to ice skate in a winter wonderland right here in the Hill Country.

Zweite Weihnachten

The German tradition of Zweite Weihnachten, or “Second Christmas”, is a great way to continue the fun of the Fredericksburg holiday season even after Christmas day has passed. Keep the holiday spirit alive with friends and family as you enjoy holiday food, drinks, and music.
