Our grounds crew has completed extensive clearing around Longhorn Lake to make way for a trail to the lake as well as two trail bridges. The lakeside deck that we’re calling The Landing is nearly complete with new deck materials and a roof, and the Treehouse is under construction. John Sather’s team is finishing up drawings for the jumping rocks, playground, and lake beach so be on the lookout for more progress on this project throughout the coming months.

You’ll also see some activity at the Metzger House in October as we work to stabilize the structure for its eventual transformation into a general store and mail center. The entire area between the 9th Hole and the Ranch Club will be called Metzger Park to honor the pioneering family that experienced great tragedy while living there.

We’re tweaking the land plan for Metzger Park to accommodate the new Village Homes, newly designed Cabins, and additional Sunday Houses as well as the play fields and putting park planned there. Don McDonald is refining the Village Home floor plans and we hope to have pricing information from our contractor so that pre-sale reservations can begin in October.

Roads and utilities to serve the first neighborhood of Country Homes will be completed this fall. The model home is under roof and will be completed in January. That home will be featured in Texas Monthly next May when it will open with a gala member preview party prior to ticketed weekend tours that will benefit the Gillespie County Historical Society.

Lodge Suite Ten has undergone a gorgeous makeover by designer Donna Figg, with a brighter color palette, new window treatments, light fixtures, rugs, artwork, and furniture. Design work is under way for the other nine suites.

Make sure to check back often as we are constantly looking for ways to build upon our foundation as the finest Private Golf and Family retreat in the Hill Country, and we eagerly await next summer’s golf course renovation, and the construction of our Fitness Center and Spa.
